We know parent support as early in life as possible is critical to children’s lifelong well being and success .

Cradle to Career and Boone County Community Services have partnered to receive a Missouri Children’s Trust Fund capacity building grant to build the Brilliant Beginnings hub and to pilot the model for potential state scaling in collaboration with Kansas City and St. Louis over the next 2 ½ years.

A partnership of 15 local organizations, including all home visiting programs, is currently building a centralized intake and referral hub for home visiting beginning Prenatal through Kindergarten to increase parent support, education, and access to support services as early in pregnancy as possible. The hub will be located at the Columbia / Boone County Public Health Department with a full time coordinator we hope to hire this spring!  Although the program will be available to all families, we have intentionally designed the hub to align services with the parent’s individual needs. We have created a well-coordinated intake partnership with agencies and medical providers working with our families to ensure this system is easy for families to learn about and access.

To do this, Brilliant Beginnings will feature a central technology platform to collect parent information, and will use “filters” to refer parents to home visiting organizations and support programming based on their level of need and risk. Along with this intake screener, we will use a common set of existing local screeners to track parent and children’s social and emotional development, including maternal depression.
